28 December 2024: J.K. Rowling replied to someone on Twitter/X saying that she had begun work on Strike 9.
25 January 2025: J.K. Rowling updated her Twitter/X header to a photo of York Minster and the city wall and said that it is a Strike 9 location.

5 April 2025: J.K. Rowling changed her header to a photo of a treehouse.

18 April 2025: J.K. Rowling changed her header to a photo of some creepy dolls.

27 June 2025: J.K. Rowling revealed to suekmoorhen on X that The Waterfront in York is a pub location in book 9.


23 August 2025: J.K. Rowling revealed on X that Pat’s birthday is the 8th of May, but we weren’t supposed to find that out until book 9, suggesting Pat’s birthday will feature in the book.
8 September 2025: Shortly after the publication of The Hallmarked Man, J.K. Rowling posted this painting of Cupid and Psyche as a teaser for book 9.

17 September 2025: J.K. Rowling changed her X header to a photo of Tower Alley and the Round Tower in Portsmouth.

29 September 2025: J.K. Rowling replied to someone on X saying she was nearing the end of Part 1 of the book.
6 October 2025:
18th December 2025: JK Rowling responds to a tweet asking how Robin is currently doing with: “Right now, she’s in a precarious position that Strike didn’t want her to be in.”

She also confirmed that she’d been writing Book 9 all day and that she was loving writing it.
20th December 2025: JK Rowling responded to a tweet giving Book 9 emoticons as a blue butterfly, a solitaire ring and a coffin.

23rd December 2025: JK Rowling changed her X header to a picture of a charm bracelet, and said ‘My new heading is an early Christmas present to Strike fans. (The clues are in the charms, there’s no new bracelet in #9!)’
