Aylmerton is a small village near Cromer in the county of Norfolk, England. It is also the village closest to Chapman Farm, the fictitious retreat centre for the Universal Humanitarian Church, the destructive religious cult Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott are investigating.
The village church, St John the Baptist, plays a part in the story. See more on this below.
Our Experience: The StrikeFans team were in Aylmerton prior to the release of the book, (as we knew it was a location because of one of J.K. Rowling’s Twitter/X header photos of the church). Whilst we were walking around the churchyard of St John the Baptist, J.K. Rowling replied to @CormStrikeFan’s Twitter/X post saying that Strike sits on the right side, third pew from the back.
The four of us practically ran back into the church. We of course had a photo taken of us sitting on the right side, third pew from the back.

Shortly after visiting the church we went to the village pub, The Roman Camp Inn, just in case it was going to be a location in the book. We had just arrived in the car park when J.K. Rowling posted on Twitter/X that the epigraphs for The Running Grave would be sourced from the I Ching, or Book of Changes.
You can only imagine our excitement that day.
