St John the Baptist church lies in the middle of the small village of Aylmerton, around 3 miles from the coastal town of Cromer.

We first learnt that the church would be featured in The Running Grave from a Twitter/X header photo that J.K. Rowling uploaded.

From a post by J.K. Rowling while the StrikeFans team were at the church, we learnt that Strike sits on the right hand side, the third pew from the back.

In Chapter 64 of The Running Grave, Strike visits the church, partly out of curiosity, after seeing the mysterious tower during his time at a nearby commune as a child.
