Here is a list of many of the characters featured or mentioned in The Hallmarked Man. A separate page for misc/minor characters will be added to the bottom of the page.
RETURNING CHARACTERS
Andrew Honbold QC– A barrister who also slept with Bijou Watkins.
Belinda ‘Bijou’ Watkins – Strike had an unfortunate fling with her.
Ciara Porter – A supermodel Strike slept with in 2010. Robin sees her at God’s Own Junkyard.
Charlotte Campbell – Strike’s on-off girlfriend of sixteen years, connected to the silver vault case through her family.
Dave Polworth – Cormoran Strike’s oldest friend, from Cornwall.
Dev Shah – A subcontractor at the detective agency.
Dominic Culpepper – A journalist for a newspaper who the agency had previously worked for. He wants revenge against Strike.
Edward ‘Ted’ Nancarrow – Cormoran Strike’s Cornish uncle, father figure and main role model.
Eric Wardle – One of Strike’s friends and Met contact who has recently suffered family loss and his wife leaving him.
Fergus Robertson – A short, balding Scottish journalist who is now Strike’s main journalist contact after refusing to give Dominic Culpepper any more tips.
George Layborn – A Met detective and one of Strike’s useful contacts.
Graham Hardacre – Strike’s SIB mate who is also a Freemason.
Greg – Strike’s brother-in-law, married to Strike’s half-sister Lucy.
Ilsa Herbert – Strike and Robin’s mutual friend, originally from Cornwall. Married to Nick Herbert.
Jack – Strike’s favourite nephew. Middle son of Lucy.
Jenny Ellacott – Robin’s sister-in-law, married to her eldest brother Stephen Ellacott.
Joan Nancarrow – Cormoran Strike’s Cornish aunt.
Jonathan Ellacott – Robin’s youngest brother. Now graduated university and now working for a brand management consultancy in Manchester.
Jonny Rokeby – Strike’s biological father.
Leda Strike – Strike’s late mother.
Linda Ellacott – Robin’s mother.
Lucy – Strike’s half-sister and the sibling he’s closest to.
Marco Ricci – Known to the agency from a previous case. Strike sees Marco driving a van into a scrapyard.
Marguerite – A friend of Lucy’s who attends her Christmas Eve party. Smitten with Strike.
Martin Ellacott – Robin’s middle brother who is in a new unstable relationship with a girl called Carmen.
Matthew Cunliffe – Robin’s ex-husband.
Michael Ellacott – Robin’s father. A sheep professor.
Michelle ‘Midge’ Greenstreet – A subcontractor at the agency, originally from Manchester. Ex-police.
Mitch Patterson – Once headed a rival detective agency before being arrested for bugging a top barrister’s office.
Nick Herbert – One of Strike’s oldest friends, married to his Cornish friend Ilsa Herbert.
Nina Lascelles – Strike slept with Nina twice then stopped contacting her.
Pat Chauncey – The detective agency’s office manager.
Prudence – Strike’s half-sister, a daughter of Jonny Rokeby.
Ryan Murphy – Robin’s boyfriend and a Met detective.
Sacha Legard – Charlotte Campbell’s half-brother. A famous actor.
Sam Barclay – A Glaswegian subcontractor at the agency.
Sarah Shadlock – Robin’s ex-husband Matthew’s old university friend, mistress, and now second wife.
Shanker – Strike’s career criminal friend and useful contact.
Spanner – The agency’s tech contact.
Stephen Ellacott – Robin’s eldest brother. Married to Jenny.
Two-Times – A regular client of the agency who has a kink in putting his romantic partners under surveillance to catch them cheating.
Valentine Longcaster – Charlotte Campbell’s close friend (once step-brother) who is also the brother of the agency’s new client Decima Mullins.
Vanessa Ekwensi – Robin’s friend and police contact. She is on maternity leave during the events of the book.

Albie Simpson-White – Rupert Fleetwood’s friend.
Anjelica Wallner (nee Fleetwood) – Rupert Fleetwood’s aunt in Switzerland.
Anne-Marie Morgan – Tyler Powell’s friend who died in a car crash with Hugo Whitehead on the way back from a concert in Birmingham.
Arsehole (Mr A) and Mrs Arsehole (Mrs A) – Mr A is the agency’s client who wants to catch his wife, Mrs A, cheating with a journalist (Dominic Culpepper).
Ben Liddell – Friend of Niall Semple who died during a military operation.
Calvin Osgood – A music producer who received an email from the computer in Ramsay Silver. Someone is impersonating him online.
Carmen – Martin Ellacott’s pregnant girlfriend.
Chloe Griffiths – Once a friend of Tyler Powell. Daughter of Ian Griffiths.
Cosima Longcaster – Dino Longcaster’s youngest daughter. Decima and Valentine’s half-sister.
Danny “Dick” De Lion – A Porn star. Strike opens a note with a pigpen cipher saying that the body in the safe was Dangerous Dick De Lion.
Daz – A resident of William Wright’s building in St George’s Avenue.
Decima Mullins (nee Longcaster) – The agency’s new client. Sister to Valentine Longcaster, Charlotte Campbell’s friend. Has a newborn son called Lion.
Dilys Powell – Grandmother of Tyler Powell. Lives in Ironbridge.
Dino Longcaster – The father of Decima Mullins and Valentine Longcaster, and godfather to Rupert Fleetwood.
Dirk – Carmen and Martin’s baby.
Faber Whitehead – Father of Hugo Whitehead, who died in a car crash on the way back from a concert in Birmingham.
Fiona Freeman (“Fyola Fay”) – A porn actress who posted a cipher note through the agency’s door saying that the body in the vault was Dick de Lion.
Gretchen Schiff – An Austrian flatmate of Sofia Media. She is the person who last saw Sofia alive.
Hugo Whitehead – Died in a car crash along with his girlfriend Anne-Marie Morgan on the way back from a concert in Birmingham.
Hussein Mohamed – A Syrian man who lived in the same building as William Write on St George’s Avenue in Newham. Pat is tasked with finding him.
Ian Griffiths – Lives near Dilys Powell in Ironbridge. Father of Chloe, a friend of Tyler Powell.
Jade Semple – The wife of the missing Niall Semple, ex-paratrooper. She lives in Crieff, Scotland.
Jason Knowles – A convicted armed robber of Haringey. He is believed by the police to have been the body found in the silver vault.
Jim Todd – The cleaner for Ramsay Silver. He works two days a week there – Mondays and Thursdays.
Kenneth Ramsay – Manager of Ramsay Silver on Wild Court where the body was found in the vault.
Kim Cochran – The agency’s newest subcontractor. She’d worked for the Met for 8 years.
Laetitia “Tish” Benton – A friend of Rupert Fleetwood. She meets Albie in the Sun in Splendour and talks about her upcoming holiday in Sardinia.
Larry McGee – Worked for Gibsons auction house and delivered the Murdoch silver late.
Malcom Truman – A DCI who gave a statement to the press that the body in the silver vault had no connection to the Freemasons in any way and concluded the body was that of Jason Knowles.
Mandy – Another resident of William Wright’s building in St George’s Avenue, Newham.
Niall Scott Semple – A possible contender for William Wright. He is ex-military and suffers with mental health problems. He vanished from his house in Crieff, Scotland.
Northmore – A detective working in the silver vault case. He interviews Strike at Scotland Yard
Lord Oliver Branfoot – A scion of nobility. He was previously a Conservative MP but now heads various charitable and political organisations and committees.
Pamela Bullen-Driscoll – Ramsay Silver shop manager and co-owner of Bullen & Co silver shop in the London Silver Vaults. She is the sister-in-law to Kenneth Ramsay –she’s his wife’s sister.
Plug – A surveillance target the agency has been tasked to catch in any criminal activity. He is living in Camberwell with his son and elderly mother who he treats poorly.
Ralph Lawrence – Ralph comes to the office without an appointment to talk to Strike about Niall Semple. He hints he is MI5.
Reata Lindvall (“Rita Linda”) – A Swedish girl murdered alongside her six-year-old daughter Jolanda in Belgium in 1998.
Rena Liddell – The sister of Niall Semple’s friend Ben Liddell.
Richard de Leon – The brother of Danny de Leon who lives on Sark.
Rupert Peter Bernard Christian Fleetwood – The boyfriend of the agency’s client Decima Mullins. He stole a silver nef from his godfather Dino Longcaster. Decima believes him to be the man found murdered in the silver vault.
Sapphire Neagle – A girl who had posted in the comments in both the real Osgood’s Facebook page and also on the fake Oz’s Instagram. Robin discovers she’s on the missing persons’ website.
Sofia Medina – A Spanish student who was studying at the University of West London. She was also an OnlyFans model.
Susan Iverson – Her and Ryan had a grope in a pub a few years previously.
Tara Jenson – Charlotte Campbell’s mother.
Tia Thompson – Friend, or “buddy”, of Sapphire Neagle. Attends Juniper Hill High School in Finsbury Park. Robin talks to her outside the school.
Tyler Powell – A possible contender for William Wright. He was adopted, so DNA from his grandmother Dilys wouldn’t have helped with identification. He moved to London for a new job after becoming unpopular in Ironbridge.
William Wright – A fake name used by a man who had been working at Ramsay Silver for two weeks before being found murdered in the silver vault. Contenders for Wright include five men: Jason Knowles, Rupert Fleetwood, Tyler Powell, Niall Semple and Danny de Leon.
Wynn Jones – A friend of Tyler Powell’s.
Zacharias ‘Zac’ Lorimer – Rupert Fleetwood’s housemate who was mixed up in drugs and had a dealer after him for money. His parents got him a job in Kenya, which left Rupert to deal with his debts and threats from the drug dealer.
Zeta – Friend of Chloe Griffiths. She speaks to Robin over the phone. No one else Robin speaks to seems to know who Zeta is.
