These are the known filming locations, in the order they appear, for Episode 1 of Strike: The Ink Black Heart.
Piccadilly Arcade
Episode one begins with a clip of the end of the last episode of Troubled Blood.
Strike (Tom Burke) waits for Robin (Holliday Grainger) with a pony balloon in the Piccadilly Arcade, which runs between Piccadilly and Jermyn Street, London.
Oscar Wilde Bar, Hotel Café Royal
We then see Strike and Robin having dinner in the Oscar Wilde Bar at the Hotel Café Royal, near Piccadilly Circus. These scenes were shot on the night of 5th March 2024.
Air Street, London
Strike and Robin leave the Café Royal through the exit onto Air Street, where Strike hails Robin a cab.
Tate Britain
After the credits, we see Strike on surveillance, watching Legs and Groomer (Madeleine Akua and Matt Rawle). This scene was shot inside the Tate Britain on the morning of 19th April 2024.
The picture that Legs and Groomer (and Strike) are looking at is Ophelia by John Everett Millais. You can read more about this painting and its connections to The Ink Black Heart here. Ophelia is currently hanging in Room 10 of the Tate Britain (Historic and Modern British Art: Beauty as Protest 1845-1905).
Denmark Street
Edie (played by Mirren Mack) is seen arriving in Denmark Street. This scene was filmed in the afternoon of 24th March 2024.
Edie rings the office doorbell, and is admitted by Pat (Ruth Sheen).
As in all previous series, the building used for the exterior of the office is No Tom guitars at No.6 Denmark Street. For the show, the shop is rebranded as Tag’s Guitars.
Outside the Tate Britain
Strike hands over surveillance of Legs and Groomer to Midge (Tupele Dorgu) outside the Tate Britain.
This scene was shot mid morning on 19th April 2024.
The Agency Office
Edie enters the office and speaks to Robin. All scenes set in the stairwell, the inner and outer offices and Strike’s flat are filmed in a studio.
Cupar Road, Battersea
Robin is seen sitting in the Land Rover, watching for a target and using her laptop to research The Ink Black Heart cartoon.
These scenes were shot in the afternoon of 19th April 2024.
Denmark Street
Strike is seen walking east up Denmark Street and entering the office.
This scene was filmed in the early afternoon of 24th March 2024.
Kozzy Cafe, Red Lion Street, Holborn
After being interviewed by the police, Robin leaves the office and heads to Kozzy Cafe.
This scene, shot in the evening of 26th April 2024, was the last scene filmed for the series.
Denmark Street
The scene showing Robin and Murphy (Stephen Hagan) talking on Denmark Street was shot on the same day as the other Denmark Street scenes, 24th March 2024.
Great Portland Street
In scenes filmed on 27th February 2024, we see Wally Cardew (Kevin Bishop) exit Great Portland Street tube station.
He crosses the A501 outside the station towards the corner of Albany Street, followed by Strike.
Wally, now followed by Thurisaz and Strike, walks towards Regent’s Park along Park Square East.
Regent’s Park
The scenes of Wally filming tourists, watched by Thursiaz and Strike, were shot in Regent’s Park, a short way up The Broad Walk by the fountain.

North Grove
Robin, in her Jessica Robins disguise, approaches North Grove for her art class. These scenes were filmed at Craxton Studios, Hampstead.
‘Jessica’ enters the house and speaks to Mariam (Liza Sadovy) in the hallway.
Mariam leads Robin into the studio where her class is to take place.
Craven Passage, Charing Cross
Strike follows Strike and Thurisaz as they leave the park. They are shown walking up the steps out of the tunnel under the railway lines in Craven Passage, Charing Cross. This scene was filmed in the afternoon of 18th March 2024.
The Ship & Shovell
Strike watches Strike and Thurisaz enter the Ship & Shovell pub.
Strike follows them into the pub and buys a drink. The Ship & Shovell is the same location that this scene was set in in the book. The pub is unusual in that it has two bars, one on each side of Craven Passage. The scene in the TV series, as in the book, is set in the smaller bar on the South side of the alleyway.
The action moves to the men’s toilets in the pub.
Strike flees the pub, and crosses over Craven Street, pursued by Thurisaz.
The fight scene was filmed at the entrance to Craven Passage as it continues on the other side of Craven Street.
A stunt man was used as a stand-in for Tom Burke in some parts of the scene.
