Richoux

Richoux was a cafe described in The Ink Black Heart as an Edwardian tearoom located on the corner of South Audley Street and Adam’s Row in Mayfair. Sadly, it closed in January 2021, along with fourteen other restaurants and tearooms owned by the same company, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on trade.

In The Ink Black Heart, Strike sits at one of its pavement tables so he can smoke. He orders a double espresso and reads an article in The Times about the terrorist group The Halvening and takes phone calls from Madeline, Lucy and then Allen Yeoman.

This branch of Richoux had been trading from the same premises since 1909. The Mayfair establishment specialised in breakfast and afternoon tea, and was famous for its selection of patisserie.
