Hardwick Hall

I must be the one to kill Harry Potter.”

Hardwick Hall is an Elizabethan country house in Derbyshire. It was built between 1590 and 1597 by Elizabeth, Countess of Shrewsbury, or Bess of Harwick, who was the second richest person in Britain at the time after Queen Elizabeth I.

Hardwick Hall inspired the exterior design of Malfoy Manor in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, but CGI was used for the towers, etc.

They also used the entrance hall for filming the scene with Voldemort at the beginning of the film, where he takes Lucius Malfoy’s wand and kills the Hogwarts Muggle Studies teacher, Charity Burbage.

You can find Hardwick Hall on the map here.
