In celebration of The Cuckoo’s Calling DVD release, we’re going to post a couple of clips from the show for discussion. (Yes, this is all on the up and up. We got the clips from an official source!)

This first clip is from the very beginning of the show, when Robin and Strike first meet. We get a lot here from this simple opening scene: Robin’s new engagement, her secret desire to be a detective, the end of Strike and Charlotte’s dysfunctional relationship, an awkward (to say the least!) life-saving moment, Robin and Strike’s first interaction.

What are your thoughts? Those of you who haven’t seen the show yet, what do you think about this opening?

We at Strikefans.com love the opening scene. One thing that strikes us (HAHA) is that Robin literally gets in between Charlotte and Strike. By blocking him in the doorway, she prevents Strike from pursuing Charlotte as she ran away. Perhaps this is a foreshadowing symbol of her and Strike getting romantically involved? Charlotte returns eventually, perceives Robin to be in the way and tries to drive her off somehow?
