The Sun in Splendour is a pub on Portobello Road in Notting Hill.

Robin follows Albie Simpson-White from his flat onto the tube.  As she has met Albie before, she is wearing a disguise consisting of a black wig and glasses, and also a hat and scarf.  Albie gets off the tube at Notting Hill Gate station. She follows him as he walks up Pembridge Road. Albie goes into the Sun in Splendour, which has ‘a curved, bright yellow frontage’ (Chapter 71).

When Robin enters the pub, she spots Albie sitting alone at a table, drinking a pint.

Even though Robin has disguised her appearance, she doesn’t want to get too close to Albie, so she drinks her tomato juice at the bar, keeping an eye on Albie in the mirror.

Whilst she watches Albie she reads a long text from Chloe Griffiths, and then answers a call from Strike, who asks her if she’d like to visit the Freemasons’ Hall with him and Graham Hardacre the following week.  She declines.

Kim arrives to take over surveillance, just as Albie is joined at his table by a young woman.
