Tegan Butcher is a witness who Strike and Robin interview at her current job at the Newbury Racecourse. Very keen on being interviewed and in Robin’s estimation “a bit of a fan” of Strike’s, Tegan tells the pair about her time working for the Chiswell family. 

Tegan worked part time as the Chiswell’s stable girl for two-and-a-half years while she was attending school. She apparently secured the job because she and her two brothers, Paul and Dan, lived nearby and have “known the family for years.”

Robin’s guess that Tegan is a fan of Strike’s is confirmed when Tegan asks him for a selfie, but settles for an autograph.

She is described as “short, square and heavily freckled” with dark hair.
