Screenwriter Tom Edge has been commissioned to adapt the seventh Strike novel, The Running Grave, for television.
He has written the scripts for all series of Strike except for the first, The Cuckoo’s Calling. His past projects include the award-winning show Vigil, starring Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie; episodes of Netflix’s The Crown; and the screenplay for the multi-award winning film Judy, starring Renée Zellweger. He is currently writing the animated film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s The Christmas Pig.
According to his CV, production of The Running Grave is planned for 2025.
There is no information available yet as to whether The Running Grave will actually film in 2025 or just start production. The two most recent series, Troubled Blood and The Ink Black Heart, both filmed in late winter and spring. However, as Tom Burke is appearing in The Seagull with Cate Blanchett at the Barbican in London between February and April 2025, any filming would have to be scheduled for later in the year, with a probable air date some time in 2026.
The latest in the series, The Ink Black Heart, will air on BBC One and iPlayer this month, with episode one scheduled for Monday 16th December.
Thoroughly enjoy the strike series and I am collecting the books and the dvd series but I find myself disappointed that you have decided not to continue producing the rest of the series on dvd
I can only hope you will reconsider this decision
Regards
Nigel
Check out Tom Edge’s comedy on Netflix…Lovesick. I watch it on repeat. Never mentioned in his bio.
The Running Grave is probably my favourite of all the Strike novels, I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The suspense and the storyline were superb.
