Michelle ‘Midge’ Greenstreet is hired as a subcontractor after being recommended to the agency by Vanessa Ekwensi1. Strike and Robin interview her and hire her before the end of Troubled Blood, but we don’t meet her in person until The Ink Black Heart.
Before joining the agency, Midge spent eight years as a police officer in Manchester, but didn’t enjoy response policing and was instead “very keen on the detective side.”2
She is described as “tall, lean and very fit, a gym fanatic with very short slicked-back hair and clear grey eyes.”3 She relocated from Manchester to London after a bad break-up with her last girlfriend.4
