Jerome “Jerry” Brudos is one of the real-life serial killers whom J.K. Rowling based the character of Dennis Creed on.

Brudos was actively killing between the years 1968 and 1969 in Oregon, USA. He killed at least four women and injured more.

Like the character of Dennis Creed, Brudos occasionally wore women’s clothing, specifically women’s shoes and underwear, which he started stealing from a young age. Creed, on the other hand, wore a wig and woman’s coat to disguise himself so that he could get close to his victims.

Brudos is also known as the Shoe Fetish Slayer, taking the common foot fetish to another level.
