“Knowing he couldn’t remain in the vicinity of Chapman Farm by daylight without getting his car caught on camera … Strike had checked himself into one of the guest cabins of nearby Felbrigg Lodge, the only hotel for miles around” (Chapter 85).

Situated at the end of a long driveway off Cromer Road, secluded within a wooded area, Felbrigg Lodge provides sanctuary for Strike and Robin at the climax of Part Six of The Running Grave.

The Hotel provides “Bespoke Accommodation” and bed and breakfast five miles inland from Cromer and three miles from Aylmerton in North Norfolk. The hotel has seven rooms and suites, hot tubs and a swimming pool.

Strike is booked into Bramble suite which is described in the book as having a four poster bed. Robert Galbraith is employing some artistic licence here as the actual Bramble suite has a sleigh bed rather than a four poster. 

In addition, a hot tub viewed through the window of Bramble can actually only be seen from the adjoining Bracken Suite.

“It felt too incongruous to be lying in a comfortable, genteel room with leaf-patterned cream wallpaper, tartan curtains, a plethora of cushions and a ceramic stag head over the mantelpiece, when his thoughts were this agitated” (Chapter 85).

The facilities in Bramble suite are well suited to ease Strike’s agitation with a kettle and biscuits; and room service providing brandy, soup and sandwiches.
