After Strike has finished interviewing Daniel Chard at his Devon home, he insists that he and Robin stop for lunch at the Burger King at Tiverton Services before driving back to London (Ch 30).
Robin queues for their burgers as Strike cannot carry a tray as he is using his crutches.
They sit at one of the Formica tables and talk about Robin’s role at the Agency as they eat.
The heated nature of their discussion draws stares from a family sitting in the corner of the tiny restaurant.
‘Then cheer the fuck up and eat your burger.’ (Ch 30)
After a coffee, they visit the loos and then get back on the road to London.
