Though we hear a lot about Charlotte in the Cormoran Strike books, she only makes a very brief appearance at the beginning of the first book, The Cuckoo’s Calling.
Charlotte Campbell was Cormoran Strike’s long-term girlfriend, on and off for 16 years. Charlotte is described as being the most beautiful woman Strike has ever met, which resulted in a lot of envious stares from other men. Charlotte caused more trouble than she was worth, with her constant lies, manipulation, recklessness and occasional violence. Strike finally ended the relationship at the beginning of the first book, leaving him with a hike across London to Denmark Street, so he could sleep in his office. In the morning, Charlotte tracks him down, terminating the relationship with a few cuts and bruises across Strike’s already gruff face. As Charlotte storms out of the office building, Robin Ellacott arrives there for the first time as a temp.
In the BBC and HBO miniseries, Strike, Charlotte Campbell is being portrayed by actress Natasha O’Keeffe, an English stage, television and film actress from South London.
She is best known for her roles in Misfits, Peaky Blinders and Filth.
