Besides Margot Bambourough, one of the agency’s most difficult cases is that of Shifty. Shifty is a “young investment banker whose rapid rise through his company had generated a predictable amount of resentment among overlooked colleagues, which had exploded into full-blown suspicion when he’d been promoted to the second-in-command job ahead of three undeniably better qualified candidates.”¹

The employees of the company believe he is blackmailing the CEO in order to obtain his lucrative position.² Strike, Robin and the rest of the agency split their time following Shifty, Shifty’s boss (SB) and his PA Gemma and however else they can infiltrate his inner circle.
