Glenfinnan Viaduct and Loch Shiel

Glenfinnan Viaduct is a railway viaduct that is part of the West Highland Line in Inverness-shire, Scotland.

The viaduct was used for scenes in four of the Harry Potter films as the Hogwarts Express train passes over on the way to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

In the Chamber of Secrets, Harry and Ron fly Mr Weasley’s Ford Anglia to Hogwarts by following the Hogwarts Express, which nearly crashes into the back of them as they follow the tracks across the viaduct.

In Prisoner of Azkaban, the train breaks down when the Dementors of Azkaban Prison board the train in search of the fugitive Sirius Black.

In the Goblet of Fire, the train is passing over the viaduct as they approach Hogwarts. In the background of the shot you can see the castle and the Black Lake, which in real life is called Loch Shiel.
