(Video) Tom Burke on Playing Strike as an Amputee

We were invited to a press roundtable where we got the chance to chat with Tom Burke before the BFI screening of Strike: The Cuckoo’s Calling. Below is a clip of Tom discussing how he perfected the role of Strike and how he learnt to move when pretending to have half a leg missing.

The UK release date of Strike is Sunday 27th August on BBC One. In the meantime, keep checking our News page; we have plenty more to come!

  1. This is an amazing video. It gives the character of Strike a new dimension and, hopefully, allows us to understand the daily struggles amputees go through, just to cope with the day to day activities, we take for granted. It’s made me think more deeply abou the wonderful character of Strike, that J K Rowling has given us, and I can’t wait to watch her stories take to the screen on the 27th. Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger were the perfect casting. Thank you!

    1. You’re so welcome, Glynis! Thank you for your comments, and look for more of our interviews with Tom and Holliday to come soon!

  2. Well, what can I say?! He is amazing and so intuned with the character. He leaves no stone unturned when it comes to the part he plays. Can’t wait to see more video’s. Stop teasing us….ROFL
