Am so enjoying this reread.

It's a cozy and comforting read, isn't it? I think I've re-read it three times now, just because it's so enjoyable to discover Cormoran and Robin and it feels good to re-live that discovery. So, you are not alone!

This is probably my favourite in the series, mainly because of the focus on Cormoran Strike's character and skills. Am on chapter 5 in part 4 where Cormoran learns about Charlotte's engagement and gets drunk. It is heartbreaking but even so, he keeps apologising to Robin for swearing, revealing his softness underneath the gruff exterior. Am so enjoying this reread.

**** SPOILERS for The Cuckoo's Calling****

I'm listening to The Cuckoo's Calling for the 3rd time (finished Lethal White in just a few days - it's the best one yet!) and I can't believe I never saw it coming - John Bristow killed his sister. I specifically listen hard during the scenes with Strike and Bristow and can never see it coming. I do, obviously, smirk and get angry every time he acts so innocent when talking with Strike about solving the crime. I genuinely believed he was innocent the first time! He's insane and should be locked up for the rest of his life. I'm actually a little surprised he didn't kill his mother before attacking Strike at the end of the book.

Also, I hate Matthew. Why is she with him. Robin deserves so much better!
