By the author's narrative and Stike's voice, Jonny Rokeby is established, in Cuckoo's Calling, as Strike's father.
Chapter 5 ~ "The fact she had not questioned him about his father (for Strike had noticed Jonny Rokeby's Wikipedia entry on the computer monitor) had impressed him further in her favor ... "
Chapter 11 ~ Tansy asks Strike "Are you really" (she pronounced it "rarely") "Jonny Rokeby's son?"
"So the DNA test said," he replied.
For the author, at some future time, to walk back this fact does nothing to support the fictional world she is trying to create. In my view, she would not flat out lie to her readers.
