Battledean Road

Edie’s uncle, Grant Ledwell, his wife Heather and their children live on Battledean Road in Highbury. Battledean Road is very close to Emirates Stadium, the home of Strike’s team, Arsenal Football Club.

Strike makes an appointment with Grant to visit him at home at 9pm on Monday 15th June, after his return from Oman.

Earlier in the evening, Strike and Robin drive to Junction Road, where Robin speaks with Zoe Haigh in her flat and Strike confronts Tim Ashcroft outside. They stop for a sandwich before heading to Battledean Road in Strike’s BMW.

“Robin continued along the road, which was lined on both sides with solidly built family homes that she guessed, from having house-hunted so recently, were worth well upwards of a million pounds.” (The Ink Black Heart, Chapter 103)

We are not given the house number or any description of the exterior of the house.

Strike and Robin play a bit of “good cop, bad cop” with Grant and Heather Ledwell, which results in Grant showing them the letter for Edie’s coffin that was supposedly dictated to Katya by Josh. After they leave, they try to call Katya Upcott but do not get through, so they decide to drive to her house to speak to her in person.
